Delta Custom Alipanel Door with High Lift Kit

For this custom Alipanel door, we needed to supply a high lift kit as well as smartphone operation and extra garage security. The door also needed to suit the homes modern façade and provide protection in a high salt environment.

This customer engaged Macquarie Garage Doors for this custom project as they wanted to be able to achieve the following criteria –
- Can the door be lifted high up to the ceiling to enable a car hoist inside the garage?
- Can we operate the door via smartphone?
- Is there a secondary lockset on the door for extra security and a safety device for kids?
- Door must be custom designed to suit the modern façade and provide best protection in a high salt environment.
The answer to all these questions was YES.

The first and most important factor the client was concerned about was the car hoist. The customer had allowed for a high ceiling in the hope of one day fitting a car hoist on the inside of the garage to gain extra vehicle storage. In a normal installation this door would open and cut the clearance height space inside the garage by almost half, so we advised installing our High Lift Kit which enables us to lift the door up another 1200mm, closer to the ceiling.
Instead of the door going straight back along the tracks when opening, it will vertically lift up for approx. 1200mm before starting to run back along the tracks. Another item we added to ensure the clearance space in the garage was our Merlin Ultimate Garage Door Opener. As opposed to the standard centre pull opener this opener fits neatly to the side out of the way to gain the extra space required in the garage. By doing this we were able to give the customer their desired clearance required for the car hoist.

The second criteria was smartphone operation. They wanted to be able to walk in and out of the garage without carrying a remote control. With kids and family it was also easier to give them access to the garage to get inside the home without providing them a key.
By installing our Merlin Ultimate opener, which comes standard with our Merlin MyQ Smartphone Kit, the garage door connects directly to the home Wi-Fi, giving it the ability to operate and monitor the garage door straight from your smartphone. This system can be used from anywhere in the world so long as your Wi-Fi is connected and the smartphone has an internet connection. You can be updated in real time visually in the app and through notifications which advise if your door is open or closed.

The third criteria was extra security. Another feature of using our Merlin Ultimate Opener is the fact it has an automatic deadbolt lock. As soon as the door closes, the deadbolt activates through the track above a wheel to provide extra security for the garage door. When the opener is activated by the user the deadbolt retracts which then allows the door to open.
Settings within the myQ app also allow for scheduled operations. This means you can set it up to close the door at 10pm, if the door has been left open accidently, to ensure safety and security.

The last criteria on our check list was to provide a custom designed door to suit the customers façade as well as the high salt environment. We recommended the Delta Alipanel as it is comprised of an aluminium frame with an aluminium composite cladding face fixed to the front of the frame.
We also upgraded the composite cladding to have folded edges, which helps protect the cladding from electrolysis in a corrosive environment. It also provides a neater finish on the edge of the cladding as opposed to a raw edge.
The customer also purchased our Cleverseal Brush Seal Kit to help keep salt air, rain, dust and pests out of the garage. The final upgrade was to add black powdercoated hinges. This helps protect the hinge from salt air and also looks great on the inside of the door.
After all criteria proposed to Macquarie Garage Doors we were successful in providing the client with all that they required. The customer was very happy with the overall result and now they can happily have their car hoist in the garage!
